Prairie Bee Meadery is Saskatchewan’s premier craft meadery, located just west of Moose Jaw. During Open Farm Days, visitors can explore a unique farm-based experience built around honey, pollinators, prairie agriculture, and award-winning honey wine (mead).
 
We craft our internationally award-winning meads in small batches using locally produced honey and real Canadian fruit. From sweet to dry, light to bold, our honey wines offer something truly different for wine lovers and the curious alike.
 
On the farm, we grow sour cherries, German Wine Rhubarb, honey, and sometimes haskap berries — but mainly, we grow fantastic memories.
 
Whether you’re looking for a family-friendly prairie experience, hands-on learning, or a guided tasting adventure, Prairie Bee offers one of the most unique things to do near Moose Jaw during Open Farm Days.
Free experiences:
Pollinator Pathway Self-Guided Experience
This family-friendly experience explores humanity’s partnership with honeybees — how they live, work, and help sustain our food systems.
Suitable for all ages, the Pollinator Pathway is a self-guided nature trail set across two acres of native prairie wildflowers. Walk through the field, relax in the prairie setting, and get hands-on with an inactive hive and beekeeping equipment while learning about pollinators and honey production.
Honey Extraction Demonstration
Join us Saturday and Sunday for live honey extraction demonstrations, from uncapping frames through to bottling honey.
Participants can get hands-on with the process — and maybee a little sticky.

Honey Wine Highway
Enjoy a unique winery experience near Moose Jaw at Prairie Bee Meadery.
Honey Wine Highway is a guided tasting experience exploring how local Saskatchewan honey is transformed into award-winning mead. Guests enjoy storytelling, behind-the-scenes winery access, and curated samples in a relaxed prairie setting.

Food:

We sell mead by the glass and by the bottle along with some non-alcoholic pops/juices/water. We offer light snacks, desserts and charcuterie boxes for consumption.

We welcome picnics onsite and we offer bee related board games that you can play at your table. Please clean up after yourself.

Subway and Husky are 10km to the North
Honey Pot Distillery (Pub open Saturday evening) is located 6 km East on HWY 735

Where to park:

Parking are is in front of the Big Red building. We have overflow parking along the entry lane

Farm Rules:
Farm dogs are onsite. We also have a dog barking lot where visiting dogs may be off-leash.

Written directions to the farm:

Heading west on the Trans-Canada from Moose Jaw? Head west from Moose Jaw on the TransCanada HWY. Turn left (south) at Range Road 280 (aka Range Road 2280). This turn is marked by a signpost towards the village of Boharm and a JGL facility at this intersection. Head south for 3km, across the railway tracks and turn right (west) at the yield sign. Continue for 9.5km, following the blue tourist road signs to reach us. When you see a black billboard for Prairie Bee Meadery. That’s us! Turn right, and we’re the second farm in. Head back to the big red building to say hello!

Heading east on the Trans-Canada from Swift Current? Turn south on SK HWY 643 5km at the Caron truck access – this turnoff is marked on the East and Westbound side by blue “Prairie Bee Meadery” tourist direction signs. Drive across the double railway tracks and continue straight. Keep following our blue tourist signs. Turn left at the first yield sign (the intersection of SK 643 and SK 735). In 1.5km turn left again at the black Prairie Bee Meadery billboard and head north. We’re the second farm in on the right. Head back to the big red building to say hello!
