Open Farm Days is a once-a-year event that takes place on a weekend in August. Farms across Saskatchewan sign up to participate and open their farm gates to the public to celebrate and educate people about Saskatchewan Agriculture. With this event, you will be visiting working farms and food producers who have volunteered their time to open their farms/operations for visits. Please listen to instructions and follow protocols set out by the farms and operators. These are working farms, and safety is Number 1! We are really looking forward to seeing your adventures through social media with the hashtag #skopenfarmdays. We hope you have a great weekend!
Is Open Farm Days a free event?
Entrance to a farm participating in Open Farm Days is free. There may be ticketed experiences on the farms that may potentially have a cost associated with it. Check in advance when planning your trip to see if there are costs associated with each location.

Can I purchase products/food from the farm?
Absolutely! We encourage you to! There’s nothing better than farm fresh products. Our suggestion would be to bring cash as farms might not be set up for debit/credit cards. Also a great idea to bring a cooler for your produce in case you’re spending your day visiting farms.
What should we bring?
Dress for the farm, with closed-toed shoes, layers, and a hat (good for sun AND rain!). Also, water bottle, sunscreen, insect repellent and hand sanitizer.
Can I bring my dog? They are so well-behaved!
No – though we are dog lovers, bringing outside pets to working farms poses a risk to animals and the business operation. Dogs are also not permitted to remain in the car parks due to the risk of heat exhaustion.
Can I smoke, or consume alcohol or cannabis while attending Open Farm Days?Â
No. Smoking is not permitted on the farm and there are no designated smoking areas on the property. The consumption of alcohol is NOT allowed and cannabis is not permitted.
What facilities are available?
We aim to make each visit to the event accessible, comfortable and enjoyable for all visitors. Each farm will have designated accessible parking, portable washrooms and handwashing stations.
Is Saskatchewan Open Farm Days applicable for Children?
Absolutely! Open Farm Days is a perfect opportunity to bring your kids to a farm and teach them about how food is produced and gets to their table. Choose your farm trip with your children in mind depending on what they would like to experience during Open Farm Days.
