Saskatchewan Open Farm Days is August 9 & 10, 2025.
Wandering Shovel Farm, located near Spiritwood, Saskatchewan, is a family-owned operation dedicated to providing fresh, naturally grown vegetables to the local community. Founded by Trent and Lois Loewen, along with their seven children, the farm emphasizes sustainable and chemical-free farming practices to ensure wholesome produce.
The Loewen family offers a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, delivering customizable weekly boxes of fresh vegetables to various locations, including Spiritwood, Leoville, Saskatoon, and Shellbrook. Beyond vegetables, the farm collaborates with other local producers to offer products such as bread, flowers, honey, beef, and pork.
In addition to the CSA, Wandering Shovel Farm participates in several farmers’ markets throughout the summer, including those in Leoville, Spiritwood, and Chitek Lake. Their produce is also available at Hujber’s Market in Spiritwood, featuring items like pea shoots, sunflower shoots, and rainbow radish microgreens.
