I am Josh Cormack and together with my wife Rebecca our three kids and support from my parents, we own, operate and run a century old cattle farm. We maintain a herd of 200 black angus cows that thrive grazing the land 365 days a year. Our land is true cattle country situated along Crawford Creek surrounded by deep coulees blanketed with native grass, natural springs, trees and wildlife sanctuary. On top of the coulee we grow tame grasses and forage for hay, and late fall grazing. We have a strong focus on exercising our cattle all year. We winter graze our cattle herd through the winter months keeping them fit and strong for spring calving.
In 2018 we started marketing our grass fed beef for retail, restaurants and direct farm to fork consumers. This has opened our minds to a whole different side of farming that doesn’t exist in many cow/calf producers. In 2023 we direct marketed over half of our calf crop.
We take pride in the sustainability of our grass fed beef. The flavour is unique to our farm as we grow and harvest all our own feed. We value our processor being the link between us and getting our high quality grass fed beef to the consumers.
Gather Local Market has been a great spot for us to engage with new customers one on one who are interested in our grass fed beef or just learning more about our farming practices. We are thrilled to be a part of Saskatchewan Open Farms Days for its inaugural year. We hope folks will come out to learn more about us and continue to support all the local producers at the revamped and exciting Gather Local Market for years to come.
Come visit us at our booth at Gather Local Market. At 9:00am we will do a presentation at our booth for the guests taking part in the Saskatchewan Open Farms Bus tour. The presentation will be open to any other guests at the market wanting to listen in. This presentation will be approximately 15minutes long. Folks listening to the presentation will learn more about us, the history of our farm, and the transition of direct marketing our grass fed beef from farm to fork. These discussions will take place all day long as customers come through the market.
Anyone visiting us at our booth that day will have the opportunity to purchase grass fed beef from us. Customers could expect to spend between $10 -$100 depending on what they wish to purchase. All products will be frozen, and depending on availability, can be taken with them. If the customer is unable to take their purchase with them that day, we can discuss other options for pickup or delivery.
Hot and cold food will be available for purchase at vendors around the market at 10:00am. We are not a food vendor and all our product will be frozen. We may have samples of some of our products at certain points throughout the day. We encourage guests to visit the other vendors around Gather Local Market
Dress for the weather. A reusable bag or small cooler works great to take any purchases with them.
Paid two hour street parking is available around the market on Avenue A and Avenue B between 19th street and Spadina Crescent West. There is also a large lot adjacent to the market for longer term parking if needed.
